Junior Kook Run
Like the Kook Run, but for Kids! The 4th Annual Junior Kook Run. Kids (ages 3-12) run a course that's just for them on Saturday morning at the YMCA with timing, medals, and more!

If you've run on the Coast Highway in Encinitas, then you've run by the The Magic Carpet Ride - a.k.a. The Cardiff Kook. The Kook has become a landmark along State Coast Highway 101 and its popularity is renowned. Did you know at one point The Cardiff Kook was the most Googles sports figure in the world? Yep! The nickname comes from the statue’s infamous pose: one that local surfers tease makes him look like a “kook”. It is frequently adorned with various decorations or completely decked out in costumes to fit the occasion.
Stop by to see it on your way to enjoy our beautiful Encinitas beaches, if you’re camping at the nearby San Elijo State Beach
Campground, or on your next training run for The Kook Run.

On Saturday, Feb 8th, the Ecke YMCA will transform into The Kook Run's packet pickup and registration. Grab your race gear, checkout vendors, and enjoy inspiring activities!

Kick off Super Bowl Sunday 2025 in Moonlight Plaza at The Kook Run's post-race finish line festival, which will feature live music, beer garden, breakfast tacos, local venders, and games and activities.
